James JP Scott

James J.P. Scott (Born 1922) is active/lives in Louisiana.  James Scott is known for Folk art sculpture-boats, oil rigs, airplanes, houses.

Born in a small rural community of Plaquemines Parish, he only attended school until 6th grade.

Self-taught as an artist, he began creating sculptures of boats, oil rigs, airplanes and French Quarter houses, using cypress wood and other found objects.

His work was included in "Passionate Visions of the American South" by the New Orleans Museum of Art, and "Rambling on My Mind: Black  Folk Art of the Southwest" by the Museum of African American Life and Culture in Dallas.
